National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN) Study Tips, Study Guide and Flash Cards

The National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN) is an independent organization but works in partnership with the National Association of School Nurses. NBCSN is also part of the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) and its certification was given accreditation by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) in May 2008. The exam is administered for NBCSN by the Professional Testing Corporation (PTC).

Eligibility


Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Currently be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the United States and a copy of current license must be submitted along with the application.
• Have a Bachelor’s degree or higher, in nursing or health related field, or the equivalent in other countries.
• Should hold a certification by NBCSN as an NCSN.
• Should be currently employed in school health services or school health related services.
• Must have completed and filed Application for the Certification Examination For School Nurses.

Exam Details


• The exam is administered during an established two week testing period on a daily basis, Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays.
• It as a computer based test being managed by PSI/LaserGrade Computer Testing Inc.
• The exam is composed of a 250 multiple–choice questions.
• The exam is timed for four hours.
