Exam description

The Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN) examination is designed as a certification program for nurses who aid transplant physicians. The CCTN exam is organized by the American Board for Transplant Certification

Registration


Candidates can register for the CCTN exam online by filling the online forms at www.goAMP.com.
Candidates can download application forms at the American Board for Transplant Certification website and mail completed forms plus payment to

If your application is approved you will be notified by email
Candidates who mail in a paper registration will be notified within four weeks. If you are yet to be notified on the status of your registration after six weeks, please contact AMP’s Candidate Support Center at (913) 895-4600
Notification of application approval will contain the registration website address, toll free number and everything you need to schedule your exam
After your application is approved and exam eligibility is confirmed, candidates have a 90 days window to schedule and sit for the exam. If candidates fail to schedule and take the exam within the 90 days they have to register and pay for the exam fee again



Exam Fees


The cost of applying for the CCTN exam is $425 fee
Online applications must pay by credit card



Exam Format


The exam is a computer based exam with a total of 175 questions
150 questions are score and 25 are pre-test questions that do not add to the final score. Total time allotted for the exam is 3 hours
At the end of the exam, candidates are to report to the center supervisor to receive a printed score. The score will indicate either a “pass” or a “fail”
The CCTN exams are conducted at more that 170 AMP assessment centers across the United States
Examinations are conducted only by appointment, Monday trough Saturday, 9am and 1.30pm

Pre transplantation care - 24 items
Post transplantation monitoring and Maintenance - 80 items
Pharmacological Therapeutics - 29 items
Education and Discharge - 12 items
Professional Responsibilities - 5 items<



Other information


Make sure you arrive at the exam center on time. Candidates who arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled start time will not be admitted to the exam room.
Candidates should bring two pieces of identification, including 1 piece of photo ID. Student or employment ID is not accepted.
