• Candidates must be a registered nurse (RN)
• Candidates must recently or currently be employed in gastroenterology and gastroenterology endoscopy practice
• Candidates must have been employed in private service or an institution for 4000 part time hours or 2 years full time in the last 5 years in either supervisory, clinical, educational, research or administrative capacities

• General nursing care 18%
• Gastroenterological procedures 47.3%
• Patient care interventions 22%
• Professional standards and responsibilities 12.7%
Exam Structure
• The exam usually computer based with 150 multiple choice questions.
• The exam is timed for 3 hours
Other Information
• The exam is conducted twice a year in spring and fall
• Application fees is $300.00 for SGNA members and $385.00 for non-members
• Candidates can retake the exam for an unlimited number of times until they pass
