 Taking the Certified Midwife Exam?
The Certified Midwife Exam is administered by the American Midwifery Certification Board. This certification is now good for a period of 5 years. Continuing education must be met for recertification.

Registration
Must be licensed as an RN.
Must have completed a program in nurse-midwifery.
Verification of completed program from the director of the program.
Registration can be completed online through AMP.
Exam Fees
The fee for taking the Cm exam is $750. The fee to retake the exam is $500. Fee includes a $121 scheduling fee which will be forfeited if the exam is not rescheduled more than four business days before the testing date.
Exam Format
Multiple choice questions.
Computer based format.
4 hours to complete.
Exam Contents
The exam consists of 175 multiple choice questions from the following areas:
Antepartum
Intrapartum
Postpartum
Newborn
Family planning/gynecology
Primary care
Professional issues
Other Information
Testing available at more than 120 locations in the US.
Applicants arriving more than 15 minutes late for the exam will need to reschedule and will forfeit the $121 scheduling fee.
